This is Ace's original work but let me quote Ace on this particular piece.
I quote: "I drew this initially knowing I would meet James O'Barr soon. The day came and when he saw the artwork, he said he loved it. Then he asked my permission if he can add his touch to my artwork. There was no chance in hell that I would pass it. So, he tweaked the eye make up, mouth and eyebrows. It was gorgeous! He also said he would love to color it when it is properly inked. Now, THAT would be a hell of a collab."
It is a really cool piece and especially a lot cooler with James O'Barr adding some pencils on the top of it.
Edit 10/19/2012: Check out the colored version of this one done by shubcthulhu.
I use Adobe Photoshop to ink this in and I use a feathering technique that I discovered recently which makes my work a little better than before. It has the look of traditional but it actually is digital work. I am trying to get my digital work to look the same as my traditional work.
Thanks I had fun on this one. I suggest you try this one because it is very similar to your style and technique and probably the best one for you to do is with Brandon Lee doing the original Crow movie series.
Thanks and this is my favorite so far too but I am working on finishing some of the others in the new style that I am doing. Sorry to hear that you are leaving DA though it was fun working with you and talking with you. Hope to see you in the future if not you know where to find me.
You're welcome. Knowing this piece is going to look best uncolored, the inks were integral to the overall piece, and you nailed it. As for that, I hope that maybe things will clear up so I can come back soon. Really want to work with you again.
